Frequently Asked Questions

What is Nomadilogue?
Nomadilogue stands for “Nomadic Travelogue.” It is a blog that I started in 2016 as a renewed attempt at documenting and recollecting my travel experiences in different parts of the world.

Where are you from?
I am from the Philippines, a beautiful archipelagic country in Southeast Asia with 7,107 islands. You should come and see for yourself!

Is it challenging to travel with a Philippine passport?
I have never been denied of a visa or entry to a country before, so I never considered it to be a challenge. It may not be as powerful as a Swedish, a British, or an American passport, but my Philippine passport serves its purpose. I am not complaining.

What countries have you been to?
I have been to the following countries (in alphabetical order): Austria, Belgium, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Laos, Latvia, Lithuania, Macau, Malaysia, Morocco, Myanmar, Nepal, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Vatican City State, Vietnam.

What country you've visited is your most favorite?
It's extremely difficult to pick just one as every country has its own charm. Thailand is the first country I’ve ever visited on my own so it has a special place in my heart. Iceland is also magical! Exploring it is like being in another planet. Czech Republic and Austria are equally charming too.

I also enjoyed my backpacking adventure in Morocco especially in the desert village of Merzouga. Moroccans in the countryside are friendly, always greeting me “Konichiwa!”, thinking I’m Japanese. Nepal is worth mentioning because the cost of living there is insanely cheap and I can assimilate with the locals without getting noticed.

What’s the strangest travel experience you’ve ever had?
Traveling in some parts of India was a bit strange sometimes but not in a bad way. I was often approached for photo-ops as if I was an exotic entity or something. Haha. This has never happened to me in other countries before, that’s why I find it strange.

What backpacking trip you're most proud of?
I went backpacking in India for about 5 months by myself, starting from the South (Kerala) all the way to the North (Himachal Pradesh) with a two-week side trip to Nepal. I was able to visit the holy sites of Buddhism: Lumbini (Buddha's birthplace), Bodh-Gaya (where Buddha achieved enlightenment), and Sarnath, near Varanasi, (where Buddha delivered his first teaching). I also volunteered in a Tibetan NGO and attended the teachings of the Dalai Lama at the Main Tibetan Temple in Dharamshala. It was such a life changing experience!

What's your worst travel experience?
I had a freak accident in Koh Samet, an island in Thailand, and fractured my right clavicle. There is no hospital in the island so a private speed boat had to be rented that would take me to Rayong. I only stayed in the hospital for one night so it was fine. Since then, I promised myself not to attempt a handstand anymore. It was a bad (and costly!) experience. I had to undergo pin surgery to fuse my broken clavicle together in the Philippines.

How often do you travel?
As often as I can. I try to go somewhere every month, either in the Philippines or a nearby Asian country.

How do you pay for your travels?
I pay for my travels with a combination of savings from work and passive online income. I consider myself fortunate that I can work and travel at the same time.

What is you travel philosophy?

You can read it in this page: My Travel Philosophy

What backpack do you use?
I use my Karrimor Trail 35 bag. It bought it for only 25£ in Sports Direct in Manchester three years ago. It still serves me well.

What camera do you use?
I am into digital and analogue photography and the camera that I use changes from time to time. I own a CanonEOS 110D but I often rely on my iPhone and Samsung for travel photos. When it comes to analogue photography, I use my ever-reliable Lomo L-CA+ and Holga.

Do you travel alone? Why?
Yes, more often than not! I don’t mind traveling with my friends or family sometimes, but I enjoy traveling on my own even more. I like the freedom and flexibility of it. Traveling alone does not mean traveling lonely. I usually meet interesting strangers and fellow backpackers while traveling solo, making the experience exciting and memorable.

How long do you stay in a location?
It really depends. I try to stay at least 5 days in a location, especially if I enjoy my time there. I’m flexible when it comes to duration.

How much does it cost you to travel?
This is something that I don’t really keep track these days. In the early years of traveling, I used to do it but I found it to be tasking. I’m not a compulsive type of person who feels the need to record every penny that I spent. My only strategy, which works all the time, is setting my total budget and always choosing the most cost-effective options in accommodation, transportation, food, and the like. I never went over budget! My backpacking trips are always done very economically.

What’s your next destination?
To be honest, I don’t really know. I have a long list of countries I would like to visit next! Probably, Peru is on top of my list at the moment. I have never been to the continent of South America.

Where can I contact you?
